Nikkyo

  • When doing Nikkyo, at the end curl your fingers over uke's fore arm and push from your rear supporting foot into him. (use your stance for power). When doing ura you either step back and then change your feet to the side of uke, or you step in deep initially to uke's side and turn your hips away from uke and then back into him. Dave said I might need to enter a little deeper.

  • nikkyo - omote Place your left hand over uke's fingers. Curl your rt fingers over uke's rt wrist. Don't grab his wrist and try to apply nikkyo to his wrist. You are really applying nikkyo to uke's center - try to visualize this. Use your center and legs to apply nikkyo; push off from your rear foot. Ura Step in to uke's rt side with your left leg. Turn 180 degrees to your rt so you are facing same direction as uke. Turn back to your left and apply nikkyo using the force from your hip turn. Uke's forearm will be vertical when you start the nikkyo and you should try to bring it to the horizontal as you finish nikkyo. Finish with spinning uke to mat and pinning. Don't use your upper body when doing nikkyo (or any technique); use the mass of your center and your legs to generate the power. You basically want to get yourself and uke in the right position and then use your hips to generate the power.
