Katatori menuchi

irimi nage

hajiki goshi

uki otoshi

makiotoshi

  • Shihonage - Uke grabs nage's right lapel - tenkan on rt foot. As uke comes around, grab his rt wrist with both hands. Squat down and bring uke's wrist and your hands to your forehead. Pass under uke's arm and do shihonage. If uke is still holding your shoulder, you must pass under his arm and bringing uke's wrist to your head, allows you to do this.
  • kokyu nage irimi - uke grabs your left shoulder, extend your left hand into uke's face. Lower your left arm, as uke pushes against it. Then put your rt arm under uke's rt arm and step fwd with your rt foot, throwing him. Try and catch him on your upper arm, below your shoulder. This can be done by pinning his arm with your bent biceps but try to do it without grabbing on. Also if you withdraw your rear shoulder when throwing you will get more stretch of uke.
  • uki otoshi - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face. Nage's right hand moves to the inside of uke's left elbow. Nage steps with his left foot slightly to his left. Let uke's right arm come forward and lead it forward with your right hand. Step back on the line of attack with your right foot, pulling uke with your right arm and pushing against his right hip with your left arm, as you lower your left knee onto the mat. After uke falls, bring your right foot back, so you are facing 90 degrees to the line of attack.
  • katamenuchi Kotegaeshi - as uke grabs your left shoulder, extend your left arm into his face, making him block with his left arm. Tenkan bringing uke's left arm down and around. Grab uke's left wrist with your rt hand and do kotegaeshi.
  • katamenuchi kaiten otoshi - your left shoulder grabbed. Atemi to face. Move your left foot to 10 o'clock and bring your rt foot to where your left foot was (same motion as standing kokyo dosa). Withdraw your left arm and place it under uke's rt shoulder. Place your rt hand over uke's left arm and keep extending it downwards. Twist to your rt (clockwise) and place your left knee on the mat. You are pushing uke's rt shoulder up and pulling uke's left arm down and out.
  • Jujinage - Before uke grabs your right shoulder with his left hand, knock his left hand down with your rt hand and then atemi with your rt hand to uke's face. Uke blocks with his rt arm. Nage grabs uke's rt wrist with his rt hand. Nage's left hand grabs uke's left wrist from below. Cross uke's arms and do Jujinage.
  • Jujinage - Other way is to tenkan and start kotegaeshi then you switch hands ie. your hand starting the kotegaeshi moves up to your shoulder under uke's hand; your other hand drops down to grab uke's lower hand. You are then in position for jujinage.
  • udikeminage (gayakute nage) -
    • tenkan, do J step and grab uke's wrist
    • (soto herei) - as above; when doing J step your hand cuts over uke's arm, instead of holding his rt wrist.
  • Hajiki goshi - Uke grabs left shoulder. Tenkan leading shomen down and around. Do J step with your left foot. Your rt hand grabs uke's left wrist and your left hand goes inside uke's rt elbow. Tenkan on your left foot and throw.
  • Koshi nage - Uke grabs left shoulder. Tenkan leading shomen down and around. Do half a J step with your left foot. Your rt hand grabs uke's left wrist and your left hand goes inside uke's rt elbow. Tenkan on your left foot in front of uke and place your rt foot between uke's legs. Bend your legs and do koshinage over your left ? hip.
  • Irimi nage - Uke grabs left shoulder. Irimi slightly and extend your left arm into his face. As he blocks, turn to your right and allow his arm to pass down in front of you. Step accross the line of attack with your rt foot, place your rt hand on uke's left shoulder and turn to your left. Your rt arm comes up in front of uke's face and your turn your hips to your right and step thru with your left leg, throwing irimi nage.
  • Kokyu nage - Uke grabs your left shoulder. Irimi slightly and extend your left arm into his face. As he blocks, keep contact with his arm and tenkan on your left foot, throwing uke in the direction he was moving. This is a blending movement. Try to push against uke's side with your body when you throw. This is hard to do.
  • Makiotoshi - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face. Nage grabs uke's left wrist with nage's right hand and puts his left arm under uke's left bicep. Nage tenkans on his left foot and does makiotoshi, dropping down onto his left knee at the end.

  • Kata hiki otoshi - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face. Nage let's uke's left arm come down and nage puts his right hand on uke's left shoulder. Nage steps with his right foot from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock, pulling uke's left shoulder. Then nage continues to rotate his upper body to nage's right, pulling uke's left shoulder and pushing on uke's right hip with nage's left hand (classic kata hiki otoshi movement).
  • Kogoshi - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face. Nage' tenkans and leads uke around. Nage's right arm goes around uke's neck as nage steps with his right foot between uke's legs. Nage holds uke's right arm with his left hand. Nage brings his left foot in next to his right foot, and loads uke up on his hip for the throw.
  • tsrubegoshi - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face. Nage' tenkans and leads uke around. Nage's right hand grabs uke's left elbow as nage steps with his right foot between uke's legs. Nage holds uke's right arm with his left hand and extends his right arm over his head. Nage brings his left foot in next to his right foot, and loads uke up on his hip for the throw.
  • Hajikigoshi tenshin - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face and continues over both of uke's arms, locking them. Nage steps back tenshin with his left foot and then pivots 180 degrees to his left, bringing uke with him for the throw. I think nage can step forward at the end with his right foot, which would make this a hajikigoshi (throwing off the front of his hip).
  • Hizatate otoshi ? - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face. Nage's right hand grabs uke's left wrist and nage's left hand grabs uke's right bicep/elbow. Nage does a half tenkan on his left foot (nage's feet are next to each other). Nage drops to his knees and throws uke outwards and then a little to nage's right side.
  • Nikkyo - Uke grabs nage's left shoulder. Nage atemis with left hand to uke's face. Nage' tenkans and leads uke around. Nage puts his right hand on top of uke's right hand and applies nikkyo to uke's right hand.
  • uki otoshi - tenkan and then step back leading uke back into uki otoshi.

  • kaiten nikkyo - nage's left shoulder held, atemi with left arm, lead uke's left arm down with your left, your left hand moves under uke's  right elbow and rolls it upwards and down in to kaitne nikkyo
  • ikkyo -  nage's left shoulder held, atemi with left arm, do ikkyo on uke's left arm.

General for kata menuchi

  • Move like a steel spring; when you extend into uke's face, he should bend backwards and then when he pushes fwd, you with draw your arm and tenkan. You need to feel the give and take of the technique. You learn the technique by the feel of it.
  • Uke grabs nage's right shoulder. Nage atemis with his rt arm to uke's face and enters to uke's left side. Uke blocks with his rt arm. Nage keeps extending into uke, so uke bends backwards. When uke recoils and starts pushing back, nage does the technique. Nage needs to maintain contact with uke's arm during the technique; at times you pivot around this point of contact.
